I guess it is finally
time to do something with this section. First I will add some info
about myself than Dan can write up something if he wants.
Group History: I started making aircraft for X-Plane when it was in the middle of its 5.x version run. I made I think 5 or 6 aircraft in X-Plane before I moved on the MS Flight Sim. My first aircraft for Flight Sim was a 7AC Champ for FS2002. it was my first experience with Gmax and what a time that was. At the time tutorials were very few and far between so everything was pretty much trial and error. It took about a year of on and off work to complete my first project which used default gauges and a fairly crude VC and 2D panel. Soon after my release of the Champ I wanted go a little more performance oriented. I thought for a while and decided to design a Super Decathlon out of my current Champ model. After a few weeks of work I started to show off what I had as a model and it got the attention on Ms, I mean Mr. Dan Hufford. Dan in a nutshell is an Acro junky. He's also good at driving people up a wall but that's for another day ;-). Dan came to me with many suggestions on what should be done with this aircraft. As it turned out he was also a detail junky like me. He helped out quite a bit with flight model testing and always had an idea for something new and exciting, in which he would annoy me until I added it. As time went on we thought about working under a "group" name I guess so he can get a little credit for his work :-). When it came to a name we decided on LIC because I am from Shelter Island between Long Islands forks, and he was at the time going to Dowling College on Long Island. Shelter Island Classics just didn't sound as good as Long Island Classics so that's where the name came from. We build what we want and really don't have any method to our madness. But one thing is for sure; we will NEVER produce a heavy aircraft EVER. We do not understand the obsession this community has with these tubes with wings and we avoid them like the plague. If it ain't got a grass cutter up front and the tail ain't draggin like its supposed to be, Chances are we won't do it! Right now I am the only modeler, gauge maker, and texture artist of the group. But if in the future someone talented comes along and wants to work with us, we would include his/her name as the main designer. Kevin Lechmanski: Dan Hufford: OH and if you haven't been able to tell I like to joke a lot. |
