1/27/08 Well here we are a few years later and I am finally updating this ole site! I finally got my life in order enough so I have some time to do this stuff again. And coming up for final release is the Champion Aircraft 7FC Tri-Traveler. I recently released a BETA to the good folks in the "Champ Camp" over at the Sim-Outhouse forums. Once the Tri is released I will release a minor update to the L-16 package including the L-16B and the newer updated gauges. After that I may redo the Decathlon/Scout for FSX but I am not sure. I will definitely do something aerobatic but I am undecided at the moment. So I'll try to keep this semi up to date as I move on to more FS stuff. But look for the release of 7FC Tri-Traveler soon! -Kevin 11/17/06 A few people have emailed me wondering why the lack of updates. The first reasons are I started a new job back in January and most of my free time this summer went towards restoring my car. The winter is coming around and I have a few things to do to the car before snow falls. After that I hope to get back into the sim stuff and finish the tri. I also wanted to mention that a few people have sent donations and it is greatly appreciated!! Kevin 1/31/06 Hi all, I decided to add a donate button to the left side of this page. Please don't take this is as going payware. Everything done here at LIC is still completely free! Much time is taken to create quality freeware addons, and this site unfortunately isn't free. So if you are feeling generous any donation no matter how small will be greatly appreciated! On another note work has begun on a Champion Tri-Traveler and Champ 7EC package. Updates will follow but some early screenshots can be found here. Also plans have started coming together for our next tangent project which will be in the form of a low wing aerobat! -Kevin 12/31/05 Well it's the last day of the year and it is time to release our Champ package. This package includes both the 7AC and 7BCM models. Also each model includes 4 paints along with Wheeled, Ski, and Float variants. The filename is liccha04.zip and is currently uploaded at both AVSIM and flightsim.com. It is just a matter of time until it shows up on those two sites! Other sites will follow. -Kevin 12/8/05 9/4/05 The flightsim awards are up at flightsim.com for august files. The eagle filename is liceagii.zip for those who would like to vote for us. Also if you have problems with the canopy not being clear here are some replacement files that will fix that. Just take these files and replace them in each texture folder in the eagle folder. Thanks for the support and all the kind words from everyone. I don't have time to respond to everyone so to those whom we never responded a big thank you goes out to you, and we are glad you enjoy the Eagle II!! -Kevin
8/12/05 Released the paint kit today at avsim and flightsim.com The filename is eagpkit.zip. Will work on getting the patch out tonight or tomorrow. Just wanted to thank everyone for the great response in the various forums and email over this release. The Eagle was a labor of love as all our projects are, and it's great to see people enjoying it! -Kevin 8/8/05 A day after release I found one small problem in the model's texture mapping so sometime this week we will release a paintkit along with the update. We are just giving it a few days to see if anyone comes up with some major issues that may need to be fixed in a patch. On another note with the installer. For those having problems installing I made a minor mistake with one of the setup files. Inside the zip file that you download is the Eaglesetup.exe file. all this exe does is extract the setup.exe file which is the actual installer. The problem is with the Eaglesetup.exe file. It should have been that after extraction it should run the setup.exe automatically but it doesn't. All it does is extract the setup.exe in which you must manually run that to install the aircraft. we did this "double compression" because it shrinks the file by about 5 megs which helps the dialup people quite a bit. We had a few emails on this issue so I thought I should post it on here.
-Kevin 8/06/05 Well it's out!!! The Eagle is currently up at AVSIM and should show up at flightsim, simviation, and sim-outhouse soon! Enjoy our latest FREEWARE offering!!
-Kevin 8/1/05 Heading into the home stretch on the eagle. We recently entered the first stage of beta which brought up some good stuff. I fixed most of the stuff and added a few things to the list. I hope to finish the list today or tomorrow night. Then we will enter the second and final beta stage and I hope to have it ready by this coming weekend. Dan doesn't think so but that is what I am shooting for. Other than finishing up the model we need to get some kind of documentation together which shouldn't take too long. I will tell you one thing, when this thing is done I am taking a fairly long break. This thing is killing all my free time this summer! ;-) -Kevin 7/8/05 If you haven't seen the various forums posts by a select few people then you probably think nothing is going on. But the truth is I have been busy trying to finish this thing up. SO I figured I would post some shots of the various paint schemes we have right now. The black and red schemes are one I came up with on my own where the three white schemes are ones you will see on various real world Eagles. -Kevin
5/27/05 A little VC action. Been finishing up the details and finalizing all the coding for the gauges. Still got a few trinkets to add but this gives you a general idea of what we are going for.
5/15/05 Spent the day texture mapping and got 90% of the exterior textured. Also played with a scheme off the top of my head. I got some more shots for those who like to see progress plus I'm bored at the moment ;-). Also a note that mapping just means getting the parts to have a texture applied. The textures themselves are far from finished as many details still need to be added. It's coming along at a decent pace now. May get some more time in tomorrow to finish texturing the exterior. And then move to finishing the VC.
5/10/05 Just a single render since I got bored after some more texture mapping today. 5/4/05 What's a bird without feathers?
Been a while but things are progressing. I had a few questions about the canopy system and thanks to a few photo contributors and Frank sending me a few chapters of the canopy installation manual, The canopy works like a charm. Other than a few bugs that need to be fixed this should be about it on the external visuals. Mikko is hopefully finishing up his current project and can lay some textures on this bad boy. I may make a small video of all the animations as the pictures just don't do them justice. Either that or you will just have to wait ;) -Kevin
Santa's Little Hotrod!! Well it's Christmas eve and I figured we should do something festive. So first I thought of making a cool little video of the eagle in action but umm, my directing skills are non existent. So I thought for a minute and thought I haven't done renders in a while so that is what I did. The plane is dressed up in red and green in a near complete exterior form. So from us here at LIC, we would like to wish everyone a: Merry
Christmas !!!!
Well things are continuing to progress on the Eagle. Frank has sent us the drawings and have since fixed up the model to fit in the correct drawings. Time is limited during this time of year so I get in time whenever I can. I posted two recent shots of the eagle as it stands today. On another note there have been quite a few good repaints released for the ole L-16. Go check out AVSIM or flightsim.com and look for paints made by Paul Corish and Terry Funk. The shots below are of two of Corish's repaints. NOTE: All shots taken over Long Island, NY from now on if I remember to go there first ;)
I know I should be working on the model and not renders but I just can't help myself! I've done a few things since last render such as the prop, and cowling trim. Oh and also notice the wing ribbing we have going. It looks pretty sharp and with no textures yet. And yes it looks just as good in the sim as the render. So here are some new renders for the few people who come here. I can't stop switching between them for my wallpaper ;)
First off the Flightsim.com monthly vote is up. So if you enjoyed the L-16 we would appreciate it if you voted for it! The filename is licl16a1.zip. Second is to address this Eagle project. I wanted to do this project mainly to prove to myself that I could start a new model from scratch again. if you haven't noticed the Scout, Decathlon, and the L-16 all came from a heavily modified version of my original 7AC champ. Now we may release an Aeronca Chief and a new 7AC champ before this Eagle project is complete. But the Eagle will defiantly go all the way to release as freeware. I would also like to note that Frank Christensen is on board with this project. For those who do not know, he is the man who originally designed the Christen Eagle in the late 70's. He has agreed to send us detailed drawings and information on just about every inch of the aircraft. So in a nutshell there will not be any guess work involved with this project. The Christen Eagle II is simply one of the most beautiful aircraft ever designed, and is one that was overlooked in FS2002 and up until now FS2004. I will also note that because of the fairly complex lines involved with this aircraft we may not be able to spare the extra polys needed for our typical detailed engine compartment. We want to keep the lines smooth and crisp as they are in the render shot, and they requires quite a bit of polys in itself. As of right now we have no plans to make such a thing for a FS model, but if there is room for it after the rest of the model is complete. Then we will include one. ALSO on one last note. Mikko Maliniemi who is know for his payware work for dreemfleet, and freeware work on the Maule, is also on board with this project. His talents along with custom sounds from Aaron Swindle will be included in this package. -Kevin
It is Halloween so I guess I have to say HAPPY HALLOWEEN ;-) Also I have a special picture for everyone in this day. It is a render of our latest work in progress. I will report on it more later and why we are doing this, but here is a shot that makes a dandy wallpaper!!
